  • Design, plans, and develops instructional interventions using appropriate strategies and techniques
  • Develops an evaluation plan for a project based on stated goals and recognized standards

Artifact:  572 Final Team Project – “Web Literacy Workshop”

The artifact that I chose to represent this competency, in my opinion, completely envelops all that this competency requires.  While it was a team project, and my team was wonderful – everyone contributing fairly, I still feel that this artifact is a good representation of MY work.  The four of us scrutinized every minute detail of information in this document.  As we were all also very “young” in the program, we had to work very hard to achieve what we all felt was an acceptable and worthy project.

Identifies and analyzes learning and performance problems

To begin this project, we had to complete an initial analysis of the problem that we were given.  I decided that the initial analysis was not a good fit for this artifact for two reasons: 1 – some things changed and became much more polished; 2 – the analysis was ported into the final report, though in an abbreviated form.  The final portfolio, specifically section 2, the Goal Analysis (with flowchart), analyzed the problems of the school, the environment, the gap between what needed to be taught and what the school had told us about the students’ performance.  All in all, it was a very thorough analysis of the learning and performance problems.

Design, plans, and develops instructional interventions using appropriate strategies and techniques

The purpose of the project was to work as a team and design, plan, and develop a workshop using the Dick and Carey model of Instructional Design that would teach the students of Blue Park Bench Middle School the basics of Web Literacy, including how to differentiate between reputable sources and those that are not.  A lot of thought and discussion went into this final portfolio.  The skills were established and the performance objectives were developed, taking into consideration the performance context and the implications that it would have on the delivery of instruction.

Develops an evaluation plan for a project based on stated goals and recognized standards

As with all training programs, in order to obtain a non-biased report of the learner’s gains and the presenter’s effectiveness, evaluations were set up.  Activities, feedback, and assessments monitor the learners’ progress in learning the stated goals/standards.  Surveys and peer feedback were to be the evaluation plan for the instructors.
